An 8 hole competition was held over the weekend. In first place was Michael Rush with 20pts, in second was David Wynne with 18pts, while in third was Brendan Gaffney with 17pts. The ladies prize was won by Eithne Gaffney with 16pts.

 

Sports Capital Funding

Works on the course are now scheduled to commence on Monday 24^th October, and the course will be closed while its ongoing.  These works include drainage of various areas of the course along with the creation of a short game area adjacent to the carpark. The estimated duration is 4 weeks.

While its ongoing, reduced green fees rates are available to our members at Carrick on Shannon and Strokestown Golf Clubs. Details are on the club website. Many thanks to both clubs for their kind gesture.

In other news, the winter league was cancelled due to the scheduling of course works.

 

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Men’s Club will take place on Sunday November 6th 2016 at 5.00pm in the Clubhouse. Notice of Motions and Nominations of officers and members of the committee of the Men’s Club must be made to the Honorary Secretary of the Men’s Club, in writing, on or before Thursday October 27th 2016. All Motions and Nominations must be properly proposed and seconded by Ordinary Members of the Men’s Club.

 

Weekend Golf Break

Michael Rush has provisionally arranged a weekend golf break to Enniscrone and Carne (Belmullet) Golf Links for the third weekend of November subject to sufficient numbers. The package includes one night B&B and a 3 course evening meal at the Broadhaven Bay Hotel. Total cost is €140. The golf course has been reopened this weekend with an 8 hole competition taking place (Fri-Sunday). Entry is free. Works on the course are now scheduled to commence on Monday and the course will be closed while its ongoing.

The first round of the Winter League took place at the weekend. In a three way tie for the lead are the teams led by Patrick Egan, Charlie O’Donnell and Brendan Gaffney all of whom returned a score of 116 from their best three cards. The best scores for each format were as follows:

Last week’s 9 hole competition was won by Seamus Gallagher with 22pts, in second was Charlie O Donnell also with 22pts and in third was Michael Rush with 18pts.

The Presentation for the Fore Club Alliance took Place in Ballaghaderreen Golf Club last Friday Evening and the winners on the night from Boyle were Pat Brogan, Jonathan Egan, Peggy Feely and David Wynne who took the prize for Golfer of the Year.
