The monthly draw for November took place in the clubhouse this evening. Congratulations to the winners Seamus & Marie Gallagher (€70), runners up Paddy Nangle & Moira/Vincent Egan (€40) each. Presentation of prizes was also held for all recent competitions. Well done to the prize-winners concerned.
Competitions this week include the weekly Winter Open (Mon-Sat) & a turkey voucher next Sunday. A date for your diary is the Christmas Bonanza on Sunday 13th December where there will be a prize for all competitors.
The annual handicap review took place this evening. Updates to handicaps will be posted in due course.
The interclub Cups & Shields draw took place in Claremorris last Tuesday night. This meeting saw the election of Jim Mooney to the Provincial Council for 2016. A summary of the draw regarding the relevant competitions will appear on our website this week.

Presentation of prizes and the monthly draw for November will take place this upcoming Sunday at 4.30pm in the clubhouse. The attendance of those with a prize to collect is requested.

Today’s Turkey Voucher was won by Jim Mooney 23pts & 2nd was Michael Simon 21pts. Competitions this week are the weekly nine hole Monday – Saturday and the Turkey Voucher next Sunday.
At the Club AGM today Men’s Captain Ross Andrew was elected Chairperson of the Management Committee for 2016. Brendan Gaffney was elected Club Secretary and Michael Gilmartin was elected Club Treasurer. A review of activities for 2015 was given by the Captain and Secretary and a Financial Report was given by the Treasurer. Thanks to all who work on Committees, play on Club Teams, help to maintain the course or assist the club in anyway. Thanks to Vincent, Mary & Patrick for looking after the catering and bar. Thanks to Charlie for his work as Grounds man. Thanks to all the members for supporting the club with membership, competition fees, fundraising or taking part in the draw. Special thanks to all our sponsors particularly those who sponsor Open Week. Outgoing Chairperson Michael Rush said it was a great honour to serve the club and he thanked the members for their great support. He also thanked outgoing Lady Captain for her great work. He finished by wishing incoming Captains Ross Andrew and Tish Perry and club members the best of luck for 2016. Ross Andrew thanked Michael Rush for nominating him and he looked forward to working with the new lady Captain and the club committees in 2016.

The Mens AGM took place last Sunday. Michael Rush thanked the members, officers and Committee for their great support during the year. He said it was a great honour to be Captain and wished the incoming Captain Ross Andrew and Vice-Captain Gerry O’Hara best wishes for 2016. The Captain was thanked by the members for his great contribution and the support he gave to the club. The Secretary Brendan Gaffney gave a report on the clubs activities during 2015 He thanked all the officers, and members for their support. The Treasurer Liam Mullaney delivered a financial report for 2015. Open week had been a great success and competition revenue had held up well. Tributes were paid at the meeting to all the volunteers for the great work they do for the club. The full list of officers elected is Captain Ross Andrew, Vice-Captain Gerry O’Hara, President Brendan Gaffney, Secretary Brendan Gaffney, Treasurer Liam Mullaney, Handicap Secretary Jim Mooney, Competition Secretary Michael Rush, and PRO Gary Carty. The AGM of the Parent Club will take place on next Sunday November 22nd at 5.00 in the Clubhouse.
In Ladies news best wishes to incoming Lady Captain Tish Perry and Vice-Captain Mary O’Hara.
Competitions this week,weather permitting. are the weekly nine hole from Monday to Saturday and next Sunday is a nine hole stableford.
Good luck to Boyle Musical Society on their production of “The Wizard of Oz” this week. The show runs from this Wednesday November 18th to Sunday November 22nd.
In other news Gary Carty takes over as PRO from next week as yours truly moves to pastures new. Good luck to Gary as he takes on the daunting role of editor in chief, sports correspondent, media celebrity and all round general trouble maker, it won’t be easy
Thanks to all the loyal local, national and global followers who read, commented or were the subject of what has become lovingly known as “the blog”, it would not have been the same without you. Some came in for particular attention, Charlie, your royal ex presidentialness, perhaps you won’t be in the media spotlight as much now….ps… we’re still awaiting the return of the presidential van.

“Changing of the Guard”
This Sunday will signal a “Changing of the Guard” for the Mens Club when the AGM is held at 5.00pm.
Captain Michael Rush will step down to make way for Captain Elect Ross Andrew and Vice-Captain Gerry O’Hara. We wish them both good luck and thank Michael for his year as Captain.
The other significant change taking place on Sunday will be the relinquishing of state office by President O’Donnell as he hands over the heavy Presidential burden to Brendan Gaffney.
Weather permitting Charlie will carry out the final state visit to ‘Ballyhaunis Golf club on Saturday. His accompanying loyal subjects eagerly await his farewell address after which he will hand over the seal of office, the presidential van and accompanying presidential robes & regalia.
We thank Charlie for his reign and wish Brendan good luck as the new president.

Results of last Sundays nine hole Turkey voucher to follow. The weekly nine hole was won by Niall Kearney, 2nd Charlie O’Donnell. Results of the Par Three Competition held on Sunday November 1st were, winner Michael Reid 49pts, 2nd Seamus Gallagher 47pts, 3rd Ted Hestor 45pts, Ladies Winner Peggy Feely 45pts.
Competitions this week are the weekly nine hole Monday – Saturday and the Turkey Voucher next Sunday. Both competitions are re-entry.
The Mens AGM takes place next Sunday November 15th at 5.00pm in the clubhouse. Parent Club AGM takes place on Sunday November 22nd. Notices have been sent via email or post. Details are on club noticeboard. Nominations to serve on Management Committee or motions to be discussed should be forwarded to Brendan Gaffney, Hon Secretary on or before Thursday November 12th.
The final amount raised for Western Alzheimer’s/Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland was €4200. Thanks to all who organized, took part or supported the fundraising weekend.

Best Ladies Team Liz Dwyer, Peggy Feely, Moira Egan & Tish Perry (96pts). Nearest the Pin, T Booth (Ballymote), Longest Drive, Liam Mullaney (Boyle). Thanks to Paula Cull and Drumderrig Nursing Home for their generous sponsorship of a perpetual cup and prizes. Raffle winners were Margaret O’Mahoney (Leinster V Connaught Tickets), John Frain, Regina McLoughlin, Ann Rush, Ruth Hogg, Ailbhe Hanmore, Sean O’Dowd, Mary O’Hara, Brendan Gaffney, Marina Hughes, Lewis Shaw. On behalf of the players Liz Dwyer thanked the organisers and congratulated the club on a great weekend. Total funds raised to date are €4095.00
