Good Luck to our Ladies in the Roscommon Cup tomorrow in Ballaghdereen. Good luck also to those playing the first round of the winter league this weekend. The weekly nine hole continues till Sunday for those interested in playing.

Another hole in one today on the 3rd, by another top golfer in the club, Michael Simon (the club is oozing top golfers this week). Michael, playing off a respectable 15 (unlike the other Michael mentioned below) was delighted to have hit his driver so well. This of course means another free round of drinks for the members on Sunday

In spite of all the hole in ones today, the quote of the day, goes to Liam Whyte an even more excellent golfer than all the ones already mentioned when he said earlier this evening “I haven’t had a holiday so far this year”. Needless to say the quote was delivered excellently and was very well received by his audience who broke into laughter

Top club Golfer Michael Rush had a hole in one today on the 4th. Michael currently playing off a respectable 20 was delighted and looks forward to treating members to the customary “drink” next Sunday. Michael was playing with Charlie O’Donnell and Willie Tiernan at the time, also both renowned golfers in the club

In other news we send commiserations to Charlie O’Donnell on the sad passing of his dog earlier today in a motor vehicle accident. Charlie has often been heard talking about his dog during rounds of golf.

Last Sundays eighteen hole stableford was won by Ross Andrew with 43pts, 2nd Sean Heslin 41pts, Gross Brendan Gaffney, 3rd Jimmy Dwyer 40pts. The weekly nine hole was won by Charlie O’Donnell 22pts, 2nd James Shivnan 22pts 

The Winter League commences this week. The first round can be played between Thursday and Sunday, see noticeboard for details of format, partners and opposites 

Other competitions this week are the weekly nine hole which can be played Monday –Sunday. A players best card each week goes towards an overall competition for the weekly nine hole champion 

The monthly meetings will take place on this Wednesday evening October 1st 

The outing to New Forest takes place on Saturday October 11th. Details on noticeboard
